Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. (First is skin cancer.) About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. At Seeds of happiness we are ALL big supporters of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, including the male species. See the proof below!
The original ‘smiley’ was created by commercial artist Harvey Ball in 1963. Concerned about the commercialization of the iconic graphic, Harvey established Smile Day, which encourages you to participate in acts of kindness and to smile and make others smile. Since that first World Smile Day® in 1999, it continues every year in Smiley’s hometown of Worcester, MA and around the world.
Octoberis National Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of screening and the early detection of breast cancer. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point during her life. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women. Right now there are more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. The good news? Many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early.
As is well known Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet.
Harvey also created World Smile Day because he thought that we should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts. Since that first World Smile Day® in 1999, it continues every year in Smiley’s hometown of Worcester, MA and around the world.

National Smile Week is celebrated during the second week of August and was established to promote dental health and the maintenance of a brilliant smile. But smiling has a positive effect on more than just your looks. It can be therapeutic and can also create a friendlier environment wherever you may be.
What’s even better is that smiling is contagious, the more you smile, the more others will smile with you!
A smile is the most universally recognized social expression. Smiles translate into every culture, language and social context and can be recognized up to 300′ away.
So make sure to smile today, smile tomorrow and smile every day…turn smiling into a daily habit!

Memorial Day is a holiday which typically marks the beginning of summer vacation…bbq, floatrips, picnics, and many more fun and relaxing outdoor activities. It’s a federal holiday, most people are off work for a three-day weekend…yea!
But, we should not forget the reason we have a day off work and are out having fun. Memorial Day is a day of remembering those courageous men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials to honor those who made the greatest sacrifice while serving our country. To those men and women, we salute you.
